Colour, nature and lust for life in constant movement
Rob van Trier is a Dutch painter, born in 1957 in Tilburg. His energetic paintings move between landscape, figuration and free abstraction and are recognisable by their bright colours, rich layers of paint and flowing lines.
From a young age, Van Trier knew he wanted to paint. For him, art is not a distant registration of reality, but an inner necessity. Light, nature and the direct experience of his environment are important starting points within his oeuvre.
ABOUT ROB VAN TRIER
Rob van Trier regularly paints in the middle of nature. He does not try to copy the landscape from a distance, but becomes part of the environment and translates light, colour, rhythm and movement into a personal representation.
Landscapes, human figures and organic shapes appear in compositions full of warmth and zest for life. In addition to paintings, Van Trier makes painted sculptures, including his recognisable series of cheerful apples and pears.

STYLE AND TECHNIQUE
Van Trier builds his works of art from multiple layers of paint and mixed techniques. Colours are incorporated into each other, while loose brushstrokes and moveable lines keep the painting process visible.
His style moves between expressionist figuration and free abstraction. Recognisable landscapes and shapes remain present, but atmosphere and emotion are more important than an accurate representation. As a result, each work of art exudes spontaneity and painting pleasure.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER
The nature and light of different European landscapes are a recurring source of inspiration. The French landscape, including the surroundings of Les Alpilles, also got a place within his oeuvre.
Rob van Trier’s paintings and sculptures found their way to private and business collections in the Netherlands and beyond. His colourful visual language and universal themes such as nature, freedom and joie de vivre appeal to a wide international audience.
