ABOUT PIERRE VAN DIJK

Pierre van Dijk knew at a young age that he wanted to become an artist. Over the years, he has explored various movements, including realism, expressionism, abstraction, and impressionism.
In his well-known water lilies, landscapes and nature representations, he does not try to literally copy reality. With colour and mobile brushstrokes, he mainly captures the atmosphere, the light and the emotion of a moment.

STYLE AND TECHNIQUE

Van Dijk works with oil and acrylic paint on canvas, linen, panel and paper, among other things. Within his oeuvre, he also experimented with airbrush, pigments, resin, beeswax and various mixed techniques.
His impressionist paintings are characterised by loose brushstrokes, natural colour tones and changing light effects. In his abstract expressionist works, gesture, colour and personal emotion are given more space.

INTERNATIONAL CAREER

From the 1970s, Pierre van Dijk’s work was exhibited in the Netherlands and abroad. In the late 1980s, he moved to the United States for a period of time, where he exhibited in New York and was a lecturer at Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania.
Later he lived and worked for many years in the French Beynac-et-Cazenac. His art was presented at the LA Fine Art Show, the Florence Biennale, the Monaco Art Show, the Salon de Paris and PAN Amsterdam, among others. In 2019 he returned to ‘s-Hertogenbosch with his studio.
