Raymon Tiel is a Dutch multidisciplinary artist, born in 1975 in Rotterdam. His art moves between figuration and abstraction and is distinguished by powerful colours, rich structures and a strong spatial effect.
After his education at the Graphic Lyceum, Tiel worked for many years as an international decorator. The technical knowledge he built up during various interior and decoration projects forms the basis of his autonomous artistry.

ABOUT RAYMON TIEL
Drawing, building and experimenting were an important part of Tiel’s life early on. Later, during large-scale decoration projects, he learned how colour, material, light and space together determine the experience of an environment.
In his free labour, these experiences come together. A painting by Raymon Tiel is not just a statue on the wall, but an art object that reacts to space and the viewer.
STYLE AND TECHNIQUE
Tiel combines painting with mixed media, modern materials and innovative surface treatments. Matte and glossy parts, relief, colour contrasts and multiple layers give his work an almost sculptural look.
Light plays an important role. Depending on the viewing angle and environment, other structures and details become visible, allowing the artwork to change character throughout the day.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER
As a decorator, Raymon Tiel worked at international locations on floors of cruise ships, interiors of superyachts and special customisation projects. These years gave him a broad technical knowledge and a strong sense of scale and space.
Today he focusses on autonomous art and his work is presented through galleries and art platforms. His international background remains visible in his use of materials and monumental way of working.

Raymon Tiel’s art combines contemporary figuration, abstract expression and mixed media. Recognisable shapes and portraits are made up of different materials, colour areas and structures, creating a powerful and partially sculptural image.
